Smile Accurate Oil Pressure Readout

I would like to add an oil pressure gauge in order to get the correct oil pressure reading. The current panel gauge I know is nothing more than an idiot light. Where on the engine can I tap in easily to install such a manual gauge? Or, does the computer read out give an accurate reading? This is on my 2000 XK8.

Thanks guys and gals

I have a real gauge. Is that an accurate read out?

yes, it is very close. i tested it against a mechanical gauge that i mounted into the adapter. on virtually every engine the only location to read oil pressure is at the low pressure switch where the Real Gauge is also installed. what in particular is your concern?

Do you have the oil pressure option with your RealGauge? If not the basic RealGauge for coolant can be upgraded if you do not have navigation. Scroll to the bottom on the page RealGauge for this upgrade option.

I have the real gauge kit that does not include the oil pressure option. I would like to know where the pickup on the engine can be used for a mechanical gauge for oil pressure readout for right now. Later on I will consider the real gauge option. Info as to where the engine pickup is located would be helpful.

Thanks

next to the oil filter adapter is the low pressure switch. this is where you can install a mechanical gauge. remove the low pressure switch and install the appropriate threaded adapter.

Here's the page from the Realgauge installation instructions that shows it. (Thanks to WhiteXKR)

Here are a couple of posts that may be of help to you.

ps, the noise I was chasing turned out to be a split in the egr pipe between the exhaust header and the intake manifold.
