Lets see, 53,000 miles, special edition, only 200 made, and it isn't worth more than $11,000.

I give up.

First, the car you posted and the one in this thread aren't comparable. Different year, different engine, mileage, and no special edition. Second, I don't know what book you're looking at, but KBB for the 05 is around $14k without the special edition. The special edition car will bring $15k all day, and they will probably sell it for more than that.

Actually, KBB puts that car around 14k. But regardless, For X100s, I've never found KBB to provide an accurate representation of true market conditions. If you look at what's currently for sale, the absolute cheapest 05-06 10,991 and it has 100k+ and a suspicious history. After that anomaly, and a couple around 12k, you're quickly in the 15-17k range with many climbing past the 20k mark. So actually, I'd say that 05 is priced quite fairly.

Agreed. In the end a car is worth what someone will pay for it in combination with how desperate the seller is. IMHO If the owner or seller can wait until someone familiar and passionate about the car, the higher the sell price. The economics of supply and demand also hold true.

But just maybe if forums like this continue to tell the virtue of the X100 and the relatively minimal problems (especially for the 4.2L cars) values may climb as enthusiasts will appreciate the now vintage shape (outlawed by pedestrian safety laws) with fairly low production numbers and a seemingly decreasing supply for sale.

I looked at this car and it's a little rough, not totally bad but it has a lot of paint scratches and most of the rubber trim around the door handles, headlights, etc are hanging in pieces. Car has been sitting at the dealer for awhile, battery was dead the day I saw it, a little oil seepage in the engine compartment. Headliner looked very dirty. Did not get to hear it run.

+1 In the end, this is the real math of selling any car.
