after market strut bar
Should there be any difference in a 98, and 99 XK8 strut bar, that mounts over the top of the engine, to the strut towers? Ebay seems to divide them up, and doesn't include the 99 in their grouping. I have seen pictures of under the hoods of both, and don't see much, if any difference......Thanks....Mike

Hi Mike,
I bought one of these for my car (a 2000) from probably the same vendor on ebay. The strut they first sent me was for a Honda (they're apparently made in China). After many phone calls and aggravation, they finally sent me the correct one. I can't imagine that there could be a significant difference between the 98 through 2003 XK8's. Certainly the difference between the shock towers didn't change, nor did the three-bolt mounting system, so I have no answer as to why they catalog them that way.
When I installed the bar, I found that was rubbing against the plastic engine covers; not a good thing. I ended up shimmng slightly to get the right clearance. Can't say how very effective they are, but there does seem to be less cowl shake.
