Default Aftermarket in-dash nav units?

Has anyone replaced the stock tape deck on their 1997-99 XK8 with an in-dash navigation/stereo unit? Not sure if any are available for this car.

Several people have done this and there are several options. The problem is that in order to install a double DIN unit, you have to relocate a row of buttons; most people who have done this put them in the glove box. What I did was install a single DIN head unit, a new amp and speakers and a Garman GVN-53 navigation system. This Garman system is designed to use the OEM screen. Another option is to install a single DIN heat unit that has a pop out screen for navigation; there are several of these available. Most important to me was to retain the factory look of my XKR. So, you need to determine what is most important to you and then look for the components to implement that option.

Thanks! I've never seen those pop-up screens before. I definitely like the single DIN option.

You will not have a built in screen in the car unless you get a vehicle with the navigation option, which I believe means a 2000 or later, unless you want to get into replacing your wood dash.

Another very viable, clean and economical option is to get the single DIN head unit that you favor, and mount a portable GPS cleanly with wires hidden discreetly in a matching leather Kuda mount: KUDA OEM leather iPhone GPS Mount for JAGUAR XK (97-06) black

I googled "single din navigation" and got the following:

Farenheit TID-893 In-Dash Car DVD Player

Pyle PLBT72G 7" Single DIN In-Dash Motorized Touchscreen TFT/LCD Digital Monitor with DVD/CD/MP4/USB/SD-Slot Card, Bluetooth Dial Pad Built-In GPS

Precision Power P-751NX Single DIN Ingenix Flip-Up 7 LCD / DVD TomTom Navigation Receiver, 7 Band EQ,USB/SD/HDD, 800mhz.CPU Win Ce 6.0, Bluetooth 3.0"

These range from cheap ($180) to expensive ($700). I don't know how good they are and I'm certain there are many others out there but this will get you started.
