You can't miss it. It's in the plastic crossover pipe that bolts to the front of the engine and connects to the top radiator hose. It has a black connector. The sensor itself has a brass colored body. Mine did the same thing on a shakedown drive. A previous butcher had broken the retaining clip on the plug, the plug worked itself loose, the temp gauge dropped to zero, the engine wasn't happy at all.

 

Ah, thank you, I will check it is ok and happy..So far engine is lovely, but the heater is hopeless at blowing any air of any description!
