The ABS/Traction Control warnings are most likely either dirty sensors or bad soldering points in the control box under the hood. I went through that as well and had the ABS control box rebuilt, end of problem. California I don't believe checks the airbag warnings, they just care about smog and no check engine light.

Thanks for your feedback. Who rebuilt your ABS control box, how long was it out of the car for repairs, and what did the rebuild job cost?

There is a place in Reseda, CA, I believe, they advertise on ebay under XkR or xk8 abs control module rebuild. If I remember correctly, they charge around $50.00 and do it either overnight or within a day or two. I will look it up and repost.

The module rebuild service is called Module Repair Pro, 5911 Lemona Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91411, phone number is (818) 429-4889. It is $45.00 plus $10.00 shipping. You can see their ebay add by typing in XKR abs module and it will come up as the first item.

Much obliged for the information. I'll add this to my list of potential resolutions as I continue to chase down these sporadic XK8 warning messages in the future. Since her return from Tampa this past Tuesday night, my wife reports no warning messages at all. The guessing game continues....

As I recall, he refurbishes these modules at his home although I think he has an automotive electronics shop as well. The address in Van Nuys was less than 10 minutes from me so I was able to drop it off and pick it up the next day. It's been a couple of years since I was there.

Well, three days after my airbag sensor warning came back on after about a six month hiatus, today, no airbag warning. I doubt the "fix" is permanent but at least I don't have to look at that gold glowing light.

Default code 17

I have this same issue with my 2005 Vanden Plas. It was involved in a crash which set off the airbags. Both front bags and All belts and buckles were replaced or repaired, and the module reset. The only issue left is the code 17. Somewhere I read that it is possible to listen to the sensors as they make a clicking sound. Upon amplification it is possible to hear if all are making similar noise. Did I dream that?

Smile FIXED Seat light passenger occupancy mat code

Went to Dan at Jag-Techs and he fixed my 1 year problem with this. Apparently it was a oscillator. 200.00 used. The seat occupancy mat was 3500.00 new and it was never the problem. After I put 2 used mats in with no success, Dan from Jag Techs in Austin put in the work and found the problem. The dealership was useless and could not find the 3500 new occupancy mat. My 2003 XKR no longer has the annoying light on. I hope this helps

Well, compared to Apollo engineers and Jaguar gurus, I'm clueless, but I've had this problem - the ABS light coming on, and lately the DSC unavailable message flashed across the dash display. It seems after I let my son or wife drive the car this may occur, never when I drive it. The message and light went away for a month or so, until the son drove the car again. My blink code was a driver's seat thing. It seems that when someone moves the seat, it happens. Maybe it's just coincidence, but replacing the seat bottom and all the other stuff seems ludicrous.
