Default Alpine “No FM” on radio

2003 XK8, Alpine/upgraded radio with no mods, CD changer in trunk, etc.

Just started getting a “No FM” readout on the little screen, and there is ..no..FM. AM, cassette, work fine, speakers fine, buttons etc all work fine, but. no FM sound at all, not even speaker hiss.

The antenna goes up and down ok.

No intrusive work work has been done in the trunk. I recently had the passenger seat belt receptacle replaced, which required removal of the front seat, but mechanic says nothing otherwise was done.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Caris

Think we've seen this before. If you push the zero button you move the FM to a different set of stored stations, those automatically stored by the unit as the 9 strongest "local" signals.

If nothing stored you get that message.

Try pressing the zero button to bring up your normal FM mode.

Did you try scanning the FM band for stations to see if it can find anything? I have read where the memory of the preset buttons gets lost and the "No FM" is what is shown.

Also read where a disconnect at the antenna connection or antenna ground can cause a similar message.

Alternate Memory??????

There are 4 memory settings............... 2 AM and 2 FM

The Alternate Memory can be recalled so 2 different people can have different stations for different tastes in music/talk radio.

The owners manual has info RTFM.

Thanks - it was the simple Press 0 to bring up memory settings. I took time to set stations in both A and P. This hadn’t happened before, obviously, so I appreciate the kind advice.

I don’t have the Audio Handbook so could not RTFM.

Spent all afternoon cleaning and conditioning the entire cabin. Hopefully the leather conditioner will help out my dry skin.

cheers, y’all.
