Alternator removal XKR 2004 4.2
Really struggling to remove the alternator. I have it loose but cant get it out. Options seem to be:
1 Take the radiator fans and some of the radiator hoses out
2 Remove the Hella coolant circulation pump and bracket and try to lift out from the top
Any advise appreciated

On my XK8, removing the alternator from the top was an pretty straightforward job. I removed the air box and was then able to reach the back electrical connectors as well as manage to get enough clearance to reach/remove the bolts holding the alternator on its bracket. Working from the top was definitely the way to go.
On an XKR, as you mentioned, you have to deal with the intercooler pump in the same general neighborhood. as the air box I am unclear if the supercharger would cause additional obstruction.
Hope this helps. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Thanks I found that to be the case. I had to drain the coolant partially to get the top radiator hose off otherwise quite straightforward. Found a lot of debris like feather and straw in between the radiators and jammed around the cross braces. Also had to unbolt the coolant pump and push it out of the way.
