I agree about the lack of love for the leaper on an xk8, but I didn’t put it there it came like that. I didn’t even realize until yesterday that it shouldn’t have one. When I bought the car I did see it and thought it was a little weird cause it’s angled slightly down due to shape of the hood.
welp, guess it gives me more reason to find an xkr hood with the two vents in it that I was thinking about…..
Hellcat… don’t go giving me any silly ideas now, I’m the type to make irrational decisions and regret them later but rationalize them at all costs to prove my point lol…
just kidding I wouldn’t do that but I would love to have a hood with the two vents, even though they wouldn’t help me gain anything but a “look”.
Mine also sits on my desk….was given to me by the Jaguar Chief Engineer in 1998. As a Ford engineer I worked at The Jaguar Engineering Center in Whitley (near Coventry) in 1997/1998. The primary reason for my job assignment was to put together a business/engineering plan to convert one of the Jaguar models to an all aluminum body structure.
The 2004 XJ was the first aluminum structure vehicle at Jaguar and every new model since was converted to aluminum. Was the reason Ford had the technology to build the 2015 F150 in aluminum and continues today.

Some don't like it...to each, his or her own, I say. Don't really care, or give any thought to, what someone else thinks about my Jag, to be honest.
Mine also came to me with the leaper attached already, but never even crossed my mind to remove it..I actually love it!
Have never seen something that looks so out of place.
Used XK8's pop up from time to time with those mounted and it is a solid pass for me.
Yes, to each his own.
Styling cues must look integrated. Failing that high bar, they will inevitably end up looking like amateurish additions that distract from the car’s overall design.
This is why the factory design team did not use a leaper on the e type, and why I never considered adding one to my e types, or to my XKR.
in these cars, it’s a distraction, not an enhancement. Something the factory designers knew very well.
