AM Radio Noise
Hello, new member here, just put a message in the new members section. I've done a search of Jaguar Forums without any results that helped, perhaps I missed something--if so, please point me to it.
My low-mile 2002 XKR (bone stock car with factory radio) radio has made a really loud tone-type noise when on AM ever since I bought it. The noise is not there on FM at any time, just on AM, and only when the ignition switch is turned on. With the ignition on, but engine not running, the tone is there. If the engine is running, the tone does not change in pitch when the engine is revved, so I don't think it's alternator diodes or filter.
I made a YouTube movie of the tone, go to:
2002 Jaguar XKR Awful AM Radio Noise (a loud, steady tone) - YouTube
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,
Wil

Debug step 1: Can you remove the antenna lead? It's back in the trunk. This may get us started on whether it's getting in there through the wires or through the air.
A grounding issue seems like a prime suspect.

Also ...
When you get the antenna lead open, see if moving the open lead around or shorting across it, or shorting it to ground has any effect.
Does the volume knob on the radio effect the volume of the noise?
