Need some help! I have a persistent rattle inside my drivers side door. I removed the door card and found the rattle to be from a brass colored metal bracket that hangs down along the latch side of the door. I find only one small bolt (see red circle in photo) that attaches it to the door — the bolt is tight!. Is there another bolt holding it on?
At the bottom of the of the metal bracket is what appears to be a rubber bracket (see yellow circle in photo) which is slightly torn that slips over the bottom edge of the metal bracket. If you put pressure on the bracket at that point the rattle immediately stops!
The immediate fix is a piece of duct tape!
My first question is what is the bracket and it’s purpose?
Second question is since there appears to be only one bolt at the top attaching the metal bracket to the door and thus the bracket swings freely thus the rattle. The aforementioned rubber bracket is the only thing holding the metal bracket at he bottom. The jaguar engineers designed this movement for a purpose so if I snuggly tape it to the door edge am I defeating the purpose of the bracket. Any thoughts? Red is bolt attachment point. Yellow is the rubber bracket
