Default another brake light inquiry

hello all,

i'm a new 2000 XK8 owner, & i've encountered my first electrical problem. every time i touch the brake pedal, the driver's side brake light blows. (luckily the mechanic that signed off on the inspection said he only noticed it when i pulled away from the shop)

i've done a search on the archives and have garnered some clues, (brake switch?) but i thought i'd ask. the dash warning indicator comes on & i'm going to check for a ground issue at the assembly. i don't have a diagnostic tool yet to provide any further clues so i thought i'd put it to the better, more experienced minds before proceeding!

cheers, & thanks in advance!

With only one side blowing, it's most likely a short. I'd start at the tail lamp unit and work forwards.

Here's the schematic for the rear exterior lighting:
