Another rattle, loud on start up
Hello all,
Listen to this video. Thoughts?
I had a bosch premium oil filter with nitrile valve I took off this morning and put on a Purolator one filter with silicone valve. I am going to wait until tomorrow to try to start her again and listen. I am praying the back flow valve on the bosch failed. When she is warmed up, no noises. Only cold start. Last 2 seconds or so.

Sounds like a pulley bearing on the serpentine system going bad. Have some one else start it and listen to the front of the engine. Check the belt for damage, you might want to remove the belt, examine it and spin the pulleys by hand to check for play.
The new filter stopped the noise. Its gone. The bosch had a black backflow valve. The more expensive purolator one I put on has orange silicone.
I really don't know why engineers need to put oil filters at 90 degree angles on an engine rather than just straight down or at least 45 degree angle or less to allow the oil filter to remain full when car is turned off.
