Default Back Up Camera

Hi Stevepaa,
I just purchased two backup camera / bluetooth hands free mirror units for $125 Cdn each. One is for the wifes car and may install the second on the Jag if it goes well.

The camera is a little bulky for my liking so I will see how it looks one her car first. Once opened there is no return on these units so I need a guinea pig to practice on!

I have posted link below.

I am sure you can find the unit in the San Jose area.

I have a backup camera as well as a DVD player to play thru the nav screen. Sorry I have no photos of the reverse camera on the screen. It is time consuming but straight forward to install. I also have it set up so my Ipod screen is on the nav screen. You can purchase all parts tru Navtv.com

Is the backup camera worthwhile to you?

I drove a 2011 small Subaru SUV type that had one and thought it very useful. Very good 1 inch square image in the left side of the mirror made backing up very comfortable, enhanced safety greatly.

I installed 2, one on my S-Type that works well and looks OK but the one on my XK8 has much to be desired. I am not pleased with the way it looks at the license plate. I have been trying to work out this issue. Other than that they work great.

You are not pleaased with the way it looks on the license plate or that it looks down on the plate and doe not give you a good view to the rear?

The appearance of the camera on the plate. I modified my camera to change the pitch but the wide angle is just fine.

On my 2010 XF SC, the camera works great. It's a little hard to see the rear of the car due to the height of the rear wind screen so that camera helps with seeing what is behind me when I back out of parking spaces.
