ASC off -button stuck
Hi to everyone!
I am proud new owner of -99 XK8.
I just noticed that the "ASC off" button isn't returning from the bottom. Button is working but when I press it I have to pull it back with knife.
Do you have any hints how I can get my hands into the mechanism of that button?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum GTM,
The usual button to stick is the Hazard Warning but I'd expect your ASC is a similar problem - a combination of lack of use and build up of dirt on the sides of the button. I vaguely recall suggestions that the buttons can be cleaned without dismantling. If this is so, I'm sure one of the members will be along shortly with advice on the technique.

I have this problem as well, hazards too, but I apparently haven't done a good job to resolve yet. You'll need to dismantle the center console (not hard really- just grab a Philips screwdriver) and then the row out of the center stack. This removes easily but be careful with the the plastic screw holes where it mounts to the dash- unplug it. I'd start with some compressed air in the buttons and then some electrical contact spray to hose it out. Let it sit and dry, maybe in the sun for up to an hour. Reassemble and test. Unfortunately, you won't get a good idea until the console is completely back together due to the panel assemblies. You'll understand more when you try it. Should just take an hour or less, but the plastics can be brittle at this age now- I actually replaced the whole plastic shroud assembly during this process.

The return spring being too weak is what I found with my Hazard button, and now with my ASC button. I got got the hazard button apart, cleaned it, and it works fine except that it must be pulled back up using credit cards (to grip the sides of the button). Does anyone have a solution to the weak spring problem? Thanks
