I have 1998 xk8 convertible. Was parked in garage 7 years ago. Just got it and there is No sound from Radio, CD, etc. The display works fine, shows channels, station names, volume, etc, but dead silence. checked all fuses that I know of and all ok. Antenna works up and down as it should. Just tried a new amp, Still nothing. It has the premium HK system. There are to cables next to battery that are not connected. Don't know what they are or if they are suppose to be connected to something(attached). Any suggestions or do you know what these cables go to?

 

The cables in your photos are what connected the battery to the transport ship's battery maintainer system during the voyage from the UK to the USA. You can tuck them away now....

 

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I will get some responses on the Sound. The Radio, CD, etc worked perfect when it was stored in the garage 7 years ago.

 

Was the replacement amp you tried really a new one, or was it an eBay type used one ?

I got lucky with my “no sound” problem. The first eBay used amp I purchased worked perfectly, and only cost $34 .

Sorry I don’t have a better suggestion for you other than to try a different amp.

And connections do corrode in storage. Have you checked for voltage in / voltage out of all the components ?
