Default Auto trunk lid release

Is the auto trunk release (on 2005 XK8) meant to fully open the lid - or like mine, only release the lock? On my previous jags the lid fully opened, but not this one!

Ray,

Mine just releases the latch. Have to lift the trunk lid by hand.

My 99 XK8: the lid went up about 8-10 inches; sometimes all the way. On my 00 XK8 convertible, the boot unlocks but the lid stays down. Go figure. Maybe something to do with the condition of the trunk lid struts?

I have a 2000Xk8 that just unlocks the boot. It does not go up at all
