Hey guys,

I recently bought another AUX-JAGCD from Discount Car Stereo, this time for my XKR.
The installation in my XJ8 was quite easy but the XKR is, well, different.
I finally was able to disassemble the (premium) sound 'rack' and attached the AUX-JAGCD between the amp and the CD-changer. Works great but I haven't found an easy way (yet) to route the 3,5mm cable from the trunk to the inside.
Any suggestions/ideas?

Convertible or coupe?

 

I took out the back seats in my convertible (2 nuts under seat = 2 minutes) Pulled out the foam seals where the large wire harness goes through the rear (both sides- one side from the trunk), used a piece of whipper snipper cord as a 'snake' through the hole from the back seat side, pulled the aux wire back through, put the foam bits back in. Removed the center console = 2 screws to get the wire in there from under middle of back seat. Voila. Good luck!

 

Yep, pretty much what Nateward said. This isn't too hard- grab a slotted screwdriver and a beer!

There is a hole in the bulkhead on the CD changer side that you can snake the line through. Follow the hydraulic hoses, or use one of the slats into the 'hat shelf' where the top folds on top of if you have to, use a bit of felt around this raw metal cutout so it doesn't cut into your wire over time though! The bulkhead hole is insulated. From there you will need to remove your backseat, top and bottom- my line comes down under the passenger speaker and under the seat there, then into/under the center console where it snakes into the cubby from a forward hole (there are a few). Mine is an iPhone 30-pin adaptor, which I put a Lightning adaptor on and sticks out over the ashtray, so I can plug my iPhone 5 in there and rest it on top of the ashtray.

Give yourself some slack working it through, then tighten it back up. I left the remaining slack under the rear seat. Works great!

Btw, IMHO the premium sound inside the XKR sounds better than the ps inside the XJ8 (both Alpine). I'm no 'car-audio buff' but the XKR subwoofer is definitely 'crisper'.
