Cool Back-up Sensor

Hello again folks!!
I am supposed to have the back-up warning sensor in my "98", but it doesn't seem to work. Could it be shut off?? How do you turn them on...if that's the case. Also, I get some surging, and trany miss-shifts unless I run in sports mode. I've also been told that it might be my "Throttle body". My TB was changed by Jag in the early 2000's. Could it be going bad already?. And on that thought, I noticed "e-bay" has an outfit that rebuilds them out of Tenn. What are the usual suspects that go out in these TB's? Potentiameters?, servo's?...

As always, thank you for your help.
Fast Freddie

Fast freddie, I suspect you'll have better luck getting some replies if you don't overwhelm with more than one issue at a time in the thread.

I can only help on the backup sensors. If you've got the little notches/bumps in your bumper, you've got the warning system.

Now, best way to tell if they're working, is to put the car in reverse (have a friend do that) and listen to each sensor individually (put your ear up to it) if its clicking, its working. If you find one doesn't work, check its connection first, then suspect a failed one. If all aren't making noises, check for a fuse or relay that operates the system. Beyond that, the system may not know your in reverse...do your reverse lights operate as the should?

Hi Fast Freddie,
I don't think that they were available in '98. What makes you think that you "I am supposed to have the back-up warning sensor in my "98", but it doesn't seem to work."? I have a 2000 XKR, and the only option I could have gotten is a Nav System, and mine did not come with Reverse Assist. I would check that first.
Good luck,
Brian

Arrggghhhh!!... your right Brian... sheeesh..."Came th' dawn"... Yeah, I looked at the rear bumper, and no little nodules like I have on my 2009 Ford Screw (no...not being naughty, Super Crew). No wonder they don't work ;>((( . Sorry h20...sometimes I get ahead of myself. I'll make a seperate post for my TB...
Thanks Fellas
Freddie

Hi Freddie,
I see that there are a few outfit in the UK that sell the complete Reverse Assist System pretty cheaply. If you decide to install it, it looks fairly simple to do........................even for me!
Good luck with your projects.
Brian
