Default idle time = fresh air results

A visit to the bone yard yields some interesting results. Look close to see the scoop under the left front. I added some plumbing parts, pieces from the intakes from a couple of Fords to get fresh air into the engine bay.

All in all this project took about 4 hours. I can take it apart and get the part numbers off the air connections if any one else is interested. As usual I never take pics during the operation. All the tools I needed was a 3" hole saw to drill the underside cowling, a hack saw to cut a piece from one of the salvaged hoses and a drill and pop rivet gun, and about 2" section of 3" aluminum corrugated dryer hose.

The hoses fit behind the access panel in the wheel well.

Comments!

Yeah its a Jaguar, but its my Jaguar.

Looks good but obviously not to be used during "high tide"

True enough, funny you say that though I just had to drill a drain hole in it this weekend. After washing the car I did notice a nice puddle in it during the wipe down. But no fish! But I thought there had to be room for something like this, Had to give it a try.

Mine has a similar outfit (a scoop) under that corner (maybe a bit farther towards the center and back) to bring it up towards the alternator, I presume.

Good Job! Can you feel any increased "perkyness"?

Just slightly. But I'm hoping for a little better mileage no matter how slight.

I did but a box fan on high in front of the car to see what kinda of flow feel there would be. It definately will channel the air. But as far as all of the math behind this little exercise, well all I know for sure is the more 90's in any flow line will add alot of footage to the run and decrease the effiencey, and require more force to increase the flow around the 90's. This set up has only 2. So the flow should be pretty good.
