Wink Throttlebody, 98 XK8

Hello again Folks!!...
I get some surging, and trany miss-shifts unless I run in sports mode. I've also been told that it might be my "Throttle body". My TB was changed by Jag in the early 2000's. Could it be going bad already?. And on that thought, I noticed "e-bay" has an outfit that rebuilds them out of Tenn. What are the usual suspects that go out in these TB's? Potentiameters?, servo's?...

Thanks Folks
Fretfull Freddie

If you have no codes and no obvious reasons for the surging I would run a container of fuel additive before messing with the TB. I am sure you will hear from many on what they use but I use BG’s 44K. As for the trans I hope someone can help you, I know nothing about the trans.

I just had my tranny fluid changed. There is a line of solenoids at the rear of the tranny.

Could be one of these are sticking causing the miss-shift. Columbia Tranny on 12th St. is the people to talk to about the tranny. They work on them.

I used a can of that BG 44. Not sure if it did any good or not but it did make my wallet lighter!!

GreenJewel, did they do the tranny flush there, Did they use the correct/or equivalent fluid? I'll check it out while I'm in town today...thanks
Gus, they pulled TB code when I had them take apart my engine to repair (set correctly) the valve timing on both heads. It cost me 1200 clams. I so far have gotton the outfit that screwed up the Tenssioner repair to agree to compensate me for the flub-up.

If you got a code or two, please post it, there may be other causes that we could direct you towards.

They used the correct ZF fluid. It comes in a 5 gallon blue plastic container and from the label it said it was a semi-synthetic made in Germany. $18. and change per qt. I'd look into supplying your own filter and saving yourself $80. I paid 5X too much for that filter.
