Bad front bearing won't press out
Really? The bearing cost about $25 USD from Rock Auto. The tool set me back about $75.00. I do have a 20 ton press..which IMO is necessary.
The reason the ABS nut will not come off easily is simply corrosion in threads. I am sure someone will disagree here, however an impact [air] wrench will get this off. I also use "sea foam" and soak the assembly prior to taking the ABS nut loose.
Be sure to remove the clip in the hub before loosening this part. Place the hub face down in a vise sufficient to hold the same. Be careful not to damage lug threads. Other than the ABS tool..no other special JAG tools are required..as long as you are careful to prevent damage to the hub/spindle while in the bench vise.
A minute or two of forward and reversing the impact wrench and the ABS nut will free up. At this point you may notice the circlips are fused in the hub.
Again..the sea foam. I use large OTC circlip pliers to manipulate the circlips. You may have to "twist" the clips to break the corrosive grip between the clip and the channel in which they rest. They will come out!
If you need to know the rest of the procedure..let me know.
