Default Bang then no drive

driving along normal road with mini roundabout... drove/rode this mini roundabout then a slight clunk on rear side (driver's side) no other mechanical sounds then total loss of drive ... gear box did not show any faults/ warning lights. No drive warning lights etc.. but just total loss of drive. Any ideas... Diff problem?? Torque converter??? Thanks in advance. Martin

Had a look a the drive shaft doughnut...Rubber connection to the auto box..all is fine..I guess this may be the final drive in the gearbox that has let go??
Is this a difficult part to replace as i have my last broken gearbox here at my place and could do without the expense of another recon
Thanks in advance
Martin

I am certainly not a transmission expert but the failure of the A/B (1/2) drum is a well known problem. That is a only a guess but probably not far off. Can be replaced without a complete transmission rebuild but once it is out labor becomes the issue.

Thanks..Would the AB 1/2 drum failure not give a gearbox fault light on the dashboard?
No Lights and no drive..The engine changes note when you put into drive or reverse..So the torque converter is working i guess..Is this not a final drive fault?
Thanks

You should get a reading of your OBD II codes and see what it gives you. Post your codes and we can help.

It's obvious that you need to get it to a shop. They will look at the components to be sure it's not something like a broken u-joint or CV joint in the rear, then check fluid level. Check codes to see if there is anything there and go from there.
