Hi guys, I don’t know if these are standard but I have BBS split rims on my car but there is corrosion under the paint so I want to get it fixed before it gets worse.
I’ve had some prices, around £150 each but up to £250 each. A local place can do a part job for £75. They propose to split the rims, rub down to remove corrosion and repaint. They don’t do powder coat and say that if the powder coating is done too thick it stops the centres going back in to the rims.
my questions to you are
1. Can the centres be taken out with the tyres still on the rims?
2. What are the pros and cons of paint rather than powder coating?
3. What are the pros and cons of rubbing down the corrosion rather than blasting?

thanks all.

Centres can be removed with tyres still on wheel. They will need to be deflated since one of the retaining screws also serves as valve.
Your other questions are more to do with personal choice.
l would prefer paint rather than powder coat and blast V rub down depends on extent and depth of corrosion. If deep blasting will clean it up but won't address the depth.
