Hi,

I have a 1997 XK8 which is supposed to "beep" when locking and unlocking with the remote.

Sometimes it does beep!

Sometimes it does NOT beep!

Car always locks and unlocks, battery voltage is fine
Seems totally random, anyone any ideas of the cause?

Tony, you'll probably find the alarm sounder may have a loose or dirty connection. If memory serves I think it's under the right front wheel arch liner.

It may well just require a good clean.

 

On my 2004 it will only beep when the remote is pressed twice ie double-locked. As far as I'm aware only non-euro models beep upon first-press.
