Default Best trans fluid, and where does the Transgo Pressure Regulator Valve go?

My first question(s)...
OK so I'm going to be servicing the ZF5HP24 in my '99. And... repairing the trans lines the lightning strike blew. What is the BEST trans fluid to use?
Also, I've read it's a good idea to install the Transgo Pressure Regulator Valve. Where does it go (do you have to pull the valve body)?
BTW, I've gone through the first 114 pages of this forum, & I've read a LOT of threads & learned a LOT from them. So much my head hurts...
Thanks,

According to ZF, you must use only their Lifeguard 5 fluid.
It's Esso/Mobil LT71141 in disguise, which is more readily available at lower cost. WV and, I believe, Peugeot use the same fluid under their part numbers.

Transgo doesn't promise that it will prevent the A-drum failure:- just that it will make it less likely, so it's definitely worth doing as PM.

Member BobRoy did a brilliant write-up of the procedure here:

Follow the thread through to the end as there are some TSBs and other detail in there.

Here's the VW fluid part # in motorcarman's post:

You have a ZF 5 HP24 (not 8HP24)

FEBI has an equivalent.(FEBI is part of the international Bilstein group)

Fixed typo - don't know how I hit 8 instead of 5 - LOL.
Found the best price on the FEBI at FCPeuro. Ordered & also have the valve coming. Maybe I *will* get this thing on the road after all.
BTW great writeup on the installation of the valve.
THANKS everyone!

OK so I got the valve & 8 liters of the fluid (I hope that's enough), & of course have the gasket & filter.
Next question: I ordered the dipstick kit from M Euro Sport & they immediately refunded my money. I emailed them asking why but have not heard back. Sooo... anyone have any idea why? No longer making? Poor product? Overfilling the trans? Heat from the exhaust pipe overheating the trans? I plan to make my own so we'll see how that goes once I have it on stands so I can work on it.
Oh & BTW I noticed in addition to blowing out something on the trans lines near the radiator, the lightning melted small spots on the L.R. & R.F. wheels, & the front park lights quit working... I might start a lightning damage post if I find more.
Thanks,
