Default Slightly hard downshift to 1st when coming to stop 2002 VDP

Just working out the bugs on my new to me 2002 VDP, I've noticed a slightly jarring harder downshift from 2nd to 1st gear when coming to a stop than any of my other 3 x308s.

Can anything be done to correct this, or do I just have to wait for a catastrophic failure, then swap in a rebuilt trans?

Also, I live in California, might anyone know where I could get a good rebuilt trans if/when that time comes?

As always, thank you in advance for your help :0)

A cheap fix & catastrophe preventive may be the Trans-go Pressure Release Valve. It's done both in many cases.

Sure sounds like a Transgo pressure regulator upgrade is needed

I had mine done at a local reputable trans shop here in Redding CA.
Transgo valve $60.00
Pan gasket $9:00
Trans filter $17.80
6 qts ZF-Lifeguard-5 fluid $138.00,
Labor $200,

Here is a pic of the new car after just getting new shoes and new Penta wheels - nicknamed the Pretty Kitty. It is Blue Zircon over Ivory, a combo I've been looking for for years. 47K miles, came with all records since birth :0)

I'm saving the nickname "Myyawh" <--said with an east coast gangster accent for my next supercharged x308, hopefully a SuperV8 if I can find a good one.

So right now I have (in x308s)
2001 Sapphire over oatmeal VDP
2002 Mystral Blue over oatmeal xj8
2002 Zircon over oatmeal xj8
2002 Zircon over ivory VDP

I have one of those Transgo kits WD (never needed it), I'll give you a good price, just PM me. I also have a new trans electrical adapter.

Just an update after the install of the valve, the shifts are so soft and smooth, you have to concentrate to notice them.

I'll be adding these to my other x308s

This thread is exactly what makes this board so good.

None of the local Jaguar "specialist" shops knew anything about this transco kit, but you guys did.

It made such a huge improvement :0)
