Default Blinker Noise (or lack of it)

My turn signal is so quite that I sometimes find that I've driven for miles with my turn signal on. Is there any way to make it louder?

That makes me think there has to be a way to adjust it.

Lots of the system warnings, incuding the blinkers are driven by the BPM to a speaker in the steering column. It would not surprise me if the BPM volume is digitally programmable by the dealer.

Guess you could also just put a cheap audio amp on it such as:

I agree with Sam. Most cars I have owned have the blinker volume just loud enough so that you are aware that it has actually gone on when you move the stalk. For the Jaguar, I often have to look at the instrument panel and see the blinking arrows to confirm that the blinker is on. Being able to adjust the sound would be great.

Mine is almost silent, too. In my neighborhood I'm the guy with the Jag who drives around all day with his turn signal on. I've wondered if this might be related to the fact that I can barely hear my backup warning?

This is a little off thread. May flashers have two speeds. When I first turn on the turn signals it has one speed, but after running for a short time it speeds up to about twice as fast. I thought at first in was an indication of a burnt bulb. I Doen't have a burnt bulb unless it is intermitent and I have been looking at the right time. Why?

If you figure out how to get the blinkers louder then how about getting the alarm system chirp louder.

My alarm system doesn't chirp. And yeah, half the time I'm not paying attention, my turn signal has been on for a while. lol

In addition to these am still wanting the "one touch up" window feature that apparently was standard on 2006 XK8/XKR and is currently standard on most cars.

My blinker noise is silent, I can't hear a peep. I've gotten so used to it that I can drive no more than a minute with it on. I also don't have the door ajar noise, the key in ignition noise or the car isn't in park or neutral when it's not running noise. So basically, the only sounds I hear inside my cabin are road noise, radio/iphone and the person in the other seat, if there is one.

My alarm does work beautifully though.

Hi Sam,

Did you ever get an answer for this. Mine makes a noise every couple of months- dead silent otherwise. Thanks.

Sam sold his car many moons ago.

If you look at the right side of the steering column you will see some perforations in the plastic. A small speaker sits behind there. There are two deep holes under the column that have phillips screws. Remove them and the plastic steering column shroud top and bottom can be removed.

Then you can check and jiggle the wires to the speaker and see if you have an intermittent connection.

Anybody followed XKR recommendation with success?

Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the X308 to chase down the speaker - could there be a fuse set separate for the blinker speaker? My indicator lamp speakers suddenly stopped working. I will pull the speaker per instructions here in.

Everyone who rides with me likes the distinct blinker sound.
