I just pulled the back seat from my '06 XK. Found this module behind the seat back. I have what I believe to be a phone mic on the overhead console, and a telephone button on my consol, but when I try to connect to my phone, I get a "No telephone available msg. Anyone have any ideas??
I have a Garmin GPS that supplies blue tooth but would like to use the original if possible.
Most XK8's have the microphone and steering wheel controls for the phone but very few had Bluetooth fitted as it was a very costly option. Here is the Bluetooth Module behind the rear seat on my 2005 Final Series XK8 4.2-S:
Look familiar? Your vehicle does or did have Bluetooth fitted.
The issue must be:
1. is the system complete?
2. are you using the correct pairing procedure AND a compatible phone?
You should have this yellow connector with the secondary harness under the Centre Console:
This harness links the BT Module to the radio head unit.
The steering wheel buttons were always present but I believe that the overhead microphone was only fitted if the Bluetooth module was also fitted.
When I did my aftermarket Parrot installation so long ago, I used the existing wiring and just tied into the connector already present in the overhead console. My 2003 did not have a microphone from the factory.
The steering wheel buttons were always present but I believe that the overhead microphone was only fitted if the Bluetooth module was also fitted. .....
It's always dangerous to make assumptions about Jaguar specifications as they do vary across World markets. That may be the case with US specification vehicles. However, of the 4 European specification versions I've had, only one was BT equiped but all had the microphone as an OE fitting.
I pulled the center console cover, and it is exactly as your pix.. Since this is a 'Victory Edition', obviously US version, I wonder if the module has failed?? Can that happen(on Jags, I guess anything can fail?)? My phone pairs with my F-Type, and with the Garmin GPS that I have adapted to my XK with no problems. I can use the Garmin Blue tooth as I always have it on when driving, but it would be nice to be able to use the OEM if possible. I have been unable to get my XK garage door opener to connect with my in house unit also.
