Body Control Module = Suspension Fault?
Chasing down some gremlins in the 2001 XKR. U1041 SCP vehicle speed signal - invalid or missing data. B1595 Ignition Switch. Illegal Input Code. U2012 Communication bus error - non SCP. Also, iCarsoft cannot communicate with the CATS active suspension control module, and I'm getting a suspension fault.
Could all this be related to a bad BCM?

Thanks for the hint! Will do so. Forgot to add - after the XKR has been running a while, the Body control module doesn't respond to the reader. Seat etc. functions still work... so I'm suspecting a bad module. Hope it's not too hard to get to...
Maybe try unplugging the active suspension module and see if anything changes. Also if you are thinking of swapping out your BPM you could first of all just unplug it and see if you can then communicate with the active suspension module. I think you would have quite a few other problems if that serial data link wasn't working properly (which the suspension module is on), but no harm in trying.

Before I tackle the BPM- how hard is it to get to the box? Just remove glove box?

If you're looking to swop the BPM - which is behind the glovebox - check that the replacement also comes from a convertible as I suspect the programming may be different - it works in concert with the SLM on the convertible to operate the top.
I doubt it is faulty, but worth accessing it to check connections, etc.

Upon unplugging the active suspension module, the fault does go away but the BPM communication issue remains. Replacing the suspension module was my first thought- doing so did not resolve the problem.

Unplugging the module will make the suspension fault go away as the unit is standalone - the rest of the car doesn't care if it is there or not. Usually the fault is a broken wire to one of the four shock absorbers. You may as well leave it unplugged. Is the car working ok other than that?
Shock rebound will be stuck in stiff mode, which will make the ride uncomfortable on less than ideal roads.
Its already stuck in stiff mode, with the added bonus of an error message. OP needs to fix the problem as outlined in this thread. In the meantime...
