Friends, I am tired of fighting with my steering wheel's tilt/extend mechanism. It seems logical to me that if the memory and Auto function work the tilt/extend 100% of the time then the problem has to be in the circuit between the switch (which test OK) and the body control module [BCM] (wire diagrams show a direct connection from the switch to the BCM).

I looked, but there is little space for access and I can't see anything. Someone once said it is a blue box. I thought you may have more specific instructions so I wanted to ask - how does one get to the BCM on a 1998 xk8 converible? Any assistance would be greatly apprecaited.

Yes, I'll admit it - I am hoping it is a corroded connection between the wire and the BCM, but I know the odds of that are pretty slim. Seems like a good place to start, I'll let you know what I find.

Not sure the BCM would be part of your problem. If it is the tilt and extend feature of the steering wheel, then this is a common issue with the reach motor.

Thanks Mike, but how can it work perfectly with auto extend and with Memory, but not the switch if it is the motor? John
