Default Bonnet vents arden style.

I've been jones'n for bonnet vents since day one. I've given up on an XKR bonnet so on to the next thing.
When I ordered my arden kit, it came with the bonnet bulges and I installed them, liked them but they cracked so I took them off. I didn't realize the real arden vents actually had a mesh portion at the rear.
So I've asked Chris at mina gallery to customize a set for me with stainless steel mesh.
I know a lot of members didnt like them but they don't photograph well and really look aggressive in person. And I think in keeping with the curves and shapes on the car!!

Any update from your buddy who is doing the AM front bumper cover. Also could you post another picture of the Chinese product, I can't seem to find it on the forum now. Thanks!

Default Vent ideas

I've been messing with vent ideas as well. As part of the process took pictures of a bunch of the vents on the club cars. Some guy makes a viper hood for a Saturn Sky, thought that might be a wild angle. I just saw a hood show up on eBay for $150 and was tempted to try something creative.

He's supposed to be starting soon. The one thing he's going to do is keep the XK8 fog lights instead of those low horizontal ones.

I am going to fit the Aston bonnet vents which are the top left of the group if pics, I have a press tool to make the mesh which I made ages ago, I have the gear so might as well use it...... I like the look of the Fairy Design stuff but I believe they have not produced it for years, just not the front bumper..... It's not for me

My body shop guy isn't comfortable enough to fit proper vents so I keep looking for something that will look right on the top of the bonnet. I don't like the stick on flat vents I've found so the Arden bulge vents fit the bill. Plus I like them!! Got used to them when my car was black and miss them now!! And I want the stainless detail on them to coordinate with my other details.
As for the fairy body kit, I'm not really wanting to fake an Aston, more like have a totally unique jaguar. Not planning on loosing any jaguar badging. And I like the way it works with the existing headlights and bonnet. I don't think it's any different than fitting the XF rear tail lights to an XK8. From the rear, it looks like an Aston with them. Now marry your XF tail lights with the fairy bumper and I'm done!!!!!

I would disagree with that statement, sure without doubt the XF lights do give an Aston look but when I first saw them I could tell from there shape they would fit an XK and I liked the modern LEDs, but many car makers use the wrap around design... But the Aston front grille is synonymous with that brand they have used it for many years on nearly all of there cars, except for that blip in the 80s they called the Lagonda, I will use design cues from other makes/models but as Meatloaf once said "I won't do that"

Are you seriously going to tell me you never thought Aston Martin when you did this?? And of course it looks like its doing the Aston thing since both the xk8 and DB7 are kissing cousins! And Ian Callum designed both and even early press accused Ian of repeating his aston rear on the XF!
Don't get me wrong, I love your work and wish it was more readily available in the states but anyone that puts XF lights on the rear of the xk8 is going for the "Aston at a glance" thing!!
But it's still stunning!!!

I can see where most would say that is Aston-ish but for me, I know it isn't

I am not denying there is a very Aston theme to the XF light conversion, all I am saying is, it was not my intention, if I wanted to fit Aston lights I would of done so.......

Default Here is an idea

The old F-Type prototype hood and nose would be wild to copy. I know you can buy the replica but fitting a partial would be a bitch.

I just noticed that there are no gaps for the bonnet to open. How exactly were you supposed to check the oil?

thinking the same as Arty - if you look at the third pic, it looks like there is a separation just behind the front tire
