Default boot (trunk) light housing

Hi,

The plastic light housing above the license plate on the boot of my car is starting to hang down on one side, revealing the circular things that look as though they're meant to hold them in place.

Is this a problem that anybody else has had that is easily repairable, or will I need to buy a new part ( either the housing, or the thing that holds the housing in place ).

I know there isn't much detail there, but in the hope it's a common problem that somebody can give me advice for without me trying to take the boot apart.

I just looked at my 98. There are 2 clear license illumination lamps. Screwed in on both sides. Maybe you lost a securing screw?

Sorry I think I wasn't clear. The problem is the housing that holds the lamps that fits the whole width of the license plate.

This isn't my car, or the correct model, but it clearly shows what I mean - it's the bit that's chrome on this picture ( but plastic on mine ):

The whole Number Plate Lamp assembly? (see item 1):

One or more of the M6 nuts loose or missing. You'll need to undo the liner to access them.

Happened to my MY98. The studs broke away from the plastic plinth. Disassemble, retrieve the studs from the trunk lid, get some JB weld, reattach the studs, let it set up, reassemble.
DON'T USE IT TO CLOSE THE TRUNK LID AGAIN.
Job Done.
