Bootlid Removal?
Has anyone here removed the rear boot lid before?
I have some major sun damage on it and I want to dismount it to paint. Would rather remove it from the car to do the work instead of masking a bunch of stuff off and I can also do it inside if it is off the car. Would enjoy any intel and possible pitfalls if you have done the work before?

There is no problem ..I had to take mine off as it had been attacked with brake fluid and bubbled up in the 40-degree heat in the summer. detach the cable to the numberplate lights and then just take the 4 bolts out at the hinges ..Needs two people and away you go.
Attached method from workshop Manual.
Be careful. You need something like a broomstick to support trunk lid when removing the struts !

Its such a non-job I cannot even remember the procedure too well .....I loosened off the 4 bolts through to the lid and while the helper took the weight I removed the bolts and he lifted it off ..did not touch the struts.
Used the marks in the paint to re-align when fitting the new one.
