The material around the windscreen and post will need reworked. You can tell it is coming off. The removable headliner is stained in several places and the drivers side window drops about two inches when you shut the door. That being said they are asking 11,900.00 for the car. It has been locally owned and I have the records from the local dealer. I know the tensioners will need to be replaced since they have not done that and they are most likely the first generation. I have a 01 XJ8 that I love and plan on keeping. Does 11,900.00 sound fair with those issues or should I pass?

The windscreen and A-pillar fabric issues are very common (deteriorating backing foam). You can recover yourself or have an upholstery shop do it....not a very big job.

The headliner has a similar issue. Aftermarket headliners are about $150, but it is several hours of upholstery shop labor to replace. You can also try cleaning first...it may help for a while.

The window issue is due to a low battery charge or a bad battery.

oh a bevy of beauties, congratulations guys

WhiteXKR beat me to it but just an add on

1. Fabric around the windscreen: I have yet to see a XK8 without this issue, the foam backing deteriorates and makes the fabric wrinkle. Sam1174 youtube shows you how to do it.
2. Headliner: Mags APC diluted 10-1 microfiber towels and a shop vac got rid of my water spots and looks almost new.
3. Passenger window: Battery or window needs to be reset
4. tensioners: I'm waiting for the snow to fall to do mine too. lots of advice and videos on here. Doesn't look that hard
4. Price: I paid more for my 98. But it was Blue, my wife's favorite color Jag

My 04 has this issue too. Also loose all across the upper piece. I was thinking about recovering them in leather to match the dash and make them easier to clean. Anybody ever do that yet?
