Angry Brake pads & rotors don't fit !!!

I ordered new ceramic brake pads (Posi Quiet) and rotors for my 2001 XKR. Bought them last Nov and just getting around to having them installed. Turns out the only parts that fit were the front rotors! I went back to R1 Concepts website and checked to see if I had received the correct parts. According to their order page I got what they deem as the correct parts. Went to another brake parts website that carried the same brand and they indicate the same parts. Kept searching and found another site that listed a different style front pad. After about 5 hrs of research I found multiple differences in the correct parts that were listed.

One investigation says that that the front rotors and pads are the same on the XK8 and XKR. Another site says that the pads and rotors are the same, front and rear, for the XK8 and XKR base model, but are different for the Silverstone Edition which has the premium Brembo option.

Does anyone know for sure if the 2001 XK8 & XKR (base model) use the same rotors and pads? I will be talking to them on Monday (4/4/11) and would like to be halfway educated when talking to them.

there are 2 options, brembo and non brembo. brembo was an option, not only on silverstone. you should be able to tell by looking at the caliper which option you have.

I was gonna say that you can have standard rotors and pads, and standard pads and larger rotors(they give increase brake performance due to increase leverage of larger rotor and use standard pads), and then brembo's

So it looks like that if I don't have any brake options on my XKR, they will be the same as an XK8. This is looking more and more like what happened. The brake stores are listing the XKR's for 2000-2002 as having the Brembo brakes as standard equipment. Just got off the phone with R1 and downloaded pix of the XK8 pads to send to my mechanic. Also sending that spec sheet that was posted here. In talking to R1, the specs listed in the PDF for my car are the XK8 rotors. The front rotors for XK8 & XKR are the same anyway and that is why they were OK. Living and learning! Will keep you updated as this all pans out!
