I bought some of the machined metal wrap myself. I was looking at the original F-Type prototype which was based on the XK and was thinking of exploring that as an alternative. I have spare dash pieces to mess with but think I'll wait until I see pictures of yours before trying. Good luck and I'll be watching!

I wonder if there's any way to wrap the door insets with the vinyl? right now mine is brown suede that I'm changing back to black suede. Seems like it needs to be on a rigid surface with a similar profile to the dash panels. not flat, but slightly domed.
any ideas?

Do I understand correctly that you want to wrap the door inserts with the brushed metal wrap instead of the suede?

My experience with the 3M 1080 wrap is that you can actually cover things that have some give to them. I did the top dash pad which is a similar consistency.

The door inserts should be pretty easy but you will want to make sure the surface is smooth, without glue remnants from the suede because they might show through.

 

Here is a picture of the turned metal wrap. I'll try it on one of my spare dash pieces this weekend. It's pretty stiff so I may need a pro to put this on correctly.

 

Where did you buy that wrap with the circle pattern?

I have a 2008 mustang bullitt at my shop that has been completely stripped and that is the exact design for the dash, ford wants a small fortune for the oem parts.
I'm sure no one would tell the difference if I use that.

 

I think Spykers have a similar turned metal dashes on them. It looks really slick.

 

Found the stuff here. They have some incredibly interesting wraps, leather for instance. I think I love these guys.

It is for flat surfaces so blending it on a dash may be tricky but damned it looks good.

It's an easy enough job, I did the two dash pieces, ashtray, shifter surround and four door trims in an afternoon, i'd say the time was split 50/50 between removing the parts from the car, and the actual wrapping itself.

Just be careful with that brushed aluminium, it looks to have a "grain" in it so you need to pay extra attenion that the grain is all in the same direction, otherwise it will look odd.

 

I think a little heat would help bend it, maybe a few snips (like when doing leathers)
Well I'm going to order some and try playing with it.

I'll post some pics of how it comes out.

I kind of want to buy some of the leather wrap also just to see what it's like in person.

The chrome carbon fiber looks interesting. Why don't they do a gunmetal carbon over the chrome like they do in the colors??

 

I noticed that too. That's why I bought a much larger piece than I'll ever need. The smaller size would run the texture horizontally. It's got to be vertical.

 

On the subject, what would look good with an AGD interior?
