Buying 3rd party parts . . . can be a PIA.
So far, I've bought 3 new parts for my car that were not OEM Jaguar parts and regretted the purchase.
The latest problem part was the ERG Valve. I think it was a Eurospec part. I got it because the original valve was stuck and stinking up the car. But, I have been getting this loud humming sound when the engine ran for a while. No one could figure out what was causing the hum. I just installed a replacement ERG Valve from SNG Barratt. Finally. Should have done that in the first place.
The other was the coolant overflow tank. That was also a Eurospec part and that kept giving me an error code after about 3 months of running the car. The float was crap. Bought a real one from SNG and it's been perfect ever since.
I did get the cast aluminum thermostat tower which was not OEM of course. That was a good part and of course the metal tensioners are also good.
I guess what I'm saying is don't ever go the cheap route when it comes to your Jag.

I generally go OE Jaguar for replacement parts except for brakes where the cost of pads and discs is simply outrageous.
Where parts are NLA (no longer available) from Jaguar, I use the aftermarket specialists such as S N G Barratt to be certain the part offered is of equivalent specification and quality. Plenty of dubious sources for parts that fit but don't meet specification and I don't want the risk or inconvenience.

There are a number of trusted sources that most of us are familiar with. I trust SNG Barratt, FCP Euro, Welsh Enterprises, and Rock Auto. None of those vendors has ever steered me wrong. On the other hand, a couple of cooling system hose purchases for my now-sold 2005 S-Type taught me to avoid parts from URO....
