Default Carpet retainers?

So I’ve been fighting with my carpet 1996(7) xk8 getting bunched up since I bought the car and I know I’m missing the holders, but I thought they were more like the ones in my XJS. I thought I found what I need, but then there was another “retainer” that showed up on a website. So what does the “carpet retainers” that are under the seat actually look like? Are they just the plastic turnbuckle?

I read your problem to be the mats are moving around and need securing. The link I posted will solve that, assuming that your mats have the required holes in them for hooking. Hopefully the carpets still have enough fibers in the correct positions for the retainer clamp to grab onto.

I have had my 2004 seats out many times and I don't recall seeing those post type retainers anywhere under the seats. The carpets are a molded fit and should not need a lot of retainers.

If you are having the actual carpet move around I think a pic would help a lot to figure out the appropriate remedy.

Default Turn studs are for fixing the interior carpet

Those turn studs are for fixing the interior moulded carpet to the central footwell side

Ah ok cool! Yes my mats are moving and buckling under foot. It's hard to tell from the pictures on sales sites where parts go sometimes. I didn't know if since my xk8 was a fairly early one, that maybe they changed the retainers after a certain year. My mats are actually Lloyd's mats so they are in really good shape. They just move around and bunch up since they aren't secured. Thanks for the replies!

I can't recall if the early XK8 uses the same mat fixings as the later XK8 but think it must:

If so, P/N is JLM20428. It fits through a rectangular cutout in the floor and clips together.

These also bear a remarkable resemblance to the ones on the XK (Part Number C2S39931) which were an unbelievable 7 UKP when I last needed one in January 2018.

The Turn Stud shown above should be the correct one for your '96. It is what I used for my '97. Later years used different methods.

You're saying the coffee one I posted above? Or the one right above your post? Just verifying

yes, the Coffee one. Long post that fits into a hole in the floor of the jag, and then turns 1/4 turn.

Ok so I should have just looked a little further under the seat! Yes it definitely gets the coffee turn stud, there are two broken tops laying under the driver's seat! Thanks for all the replies!
