cup holder assembly
I just bought a 1999 xk8 and I replaced the leather on the armrest. In in the process I removed two cup holder screws that I did not need to remove. Now I cannot get the cup holder assembly back together. There are five pieces that cannot figure out. I wonder does any have detailed photos of the assembly after the bottom is removed. Or does anyone have an exploded diagram of the parts? In the photo, I think part A gets screwed in first. Then, part B fits under part A in direction shown. Then I am lost.
Thanks
Dwight
Hi,
Try these 2 downloads in the sticky XK8 & XKR 'HOW TO' / DIY Repair & Maintenance Links / Facts & Data, links Parts List and Diagrams for 1997-2005, Pages 1-10 (in pdf)
Parts List and Diagrams for 1997-2005, Pages 11-23 (in pdf). In the second file on page 646, the third one down, it sort of gives an exploded view of the front of the console.
Maybe it will be enough to jog your memory. I know C goes under D and is screwed down to the front of the console to hold the lid down. I had to take it apart to repair part C
to get the lid to stay closed. Make sure you have part C facing the right way or the lid won't close. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Tom,
Thanks for the links. They helped but did not quite solve all my problems. I wanted to screw C&D to the armrest, somewhere. It was only when I read you text several times that I realized that "console" was not referring to the arm rest. Seems obvious now. Anyhow, it is all back together, and looks better than it did before I started on replacing the leather cover. Thanks.

Hi Dwight,
I'm glad I could help. I was just passing on info I found here. I'm pretty sure you can
build a Jaguar from the tires up with the info people have posted here.
If you can,
add a picture. I'd like to see how it looks.
