a/c out for 2 years now on 99 xk8
Hello- I have a 1999 Jaguar xk8 convertible. I have been having problems with my a/c. 2 years ago the a/c was perfectly fine. All of a sudden no air. I have taken it to 5 different places including Jaguar Tampa (2 times) and nobody can fix it. I have spent several thousand dollars on this and still no air. I have had the compressor replaced, receiver, dryer replaced, new air filter, and other stuff. There are currently no leaks in the system. It does blow somewhat cool air but it is not COLD. I have to have it on low and full blast the entire time and the auto still does not cool down. Passengers are still sweating. If I put my hand up to the vents when the a/c is set to low and full blast the air does fill somewhat cool but just not COLD. I can never set the temperature to a specific degree and have it cycle on and off like it should. The a/c has to be set to low and full blast at all times for the entire length of teh drive and no matter how fast you are driving. Any suggestions?? Thanks a lot! I'm HOT in Tampa, FL

You may have a condensor leak, as well. These leaks usually occur at the bottom of the condensor. Also your system may have a blockage. Most blockages are in the dryer, which you had replaced, or the expansion valve. Have your ac tech hook up gauges and see what she's doing. Should be easy to figure out if the tech is savvy. One other leak you may have, which I've personally have never encountered on any XK, is the evaporator. These leaks are very hard to find, unless you have a high quality sniffer that can alarm the tech if there is a leak.
