Can faded canvas top be re-dyed?
I would have said yes ..they had dye in the day to dye faded fabric tents . Clearly easiest to go for black. You need a dye that does not need salt or boiling to set it.
If you google Dye for canvas you will get a load for vehicles but I think black is the way to go

I recall several members here who dyed their tops years ago. The key is to get it sparkling clean of any debris or previously-applied waterproofing products. As referenced above, darker colors will probably come out looking best. But I do remember some before-and-after photos of a tan top that looked very good after the process was completed....
Recently, I dyed the leather on the steering wheel and the only place I could find "Sable AEK" color dye was from a place in the UK. I messaged them about canvas dye for the top and they gave me this link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380867735596
The steering wheel came out like new. I agree about the cleaning, just like leather dying, you have to get it spotless because if it's not clean, the dye won't stick. When they say thorough cleaning, they mean it.
