Default Can i remove My Engine cover ?

Hi Forum,

Saw a thread earlier that showed a significant temp drop on an F-type with engine cover off.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-cover-168352/

I was thinking.. Is this safe to do on a 1997 XK8 (electrical system /hood heating damage ?)

Is there a practical side to the engine covers or are they window dressing only ?

Is anyone running their XK8 without engine covers and are the experiencing benefits ?

Please let me know if you have experience with this or at least an opinion

for as many cars that have them now days there are still plenty that do not. I would assume they are there for anything more then noise reduction???

Hi Aalkul. I think it is a protection. Among them are the lines to the injectors. Also, I find that covers round off the motor image.

Actually they are mostly cosmetic. With XKRs they could provide protection from the sun (thanks to the hood grills) but XKRs from this era didn't have covers so... Also remember F-Types all have superchargers and superchargers put out a ton of heat. Without some work however the engine is pretty ugly without the cover.

Just be glad the 4.0 has the smallest and best looking engine cover…and keep it in place

Default Sooo much easier...

If you go the bear engine route then you have the valve covers, paint, intake... Trust me it gets expensive. The cover looks fine and do you really need to show people your engine? (I didn't get a choice).
