Can't get into my car!

Welcome to the Forum. You've done well with your search to find this old thread.
In summary, you've a maybe 1998 XK8, but you only have a green valet key and no fob. And you want to get into the trunk.
Bad news - the Jag is specifically set up so the green headed valet key can only run the car. It won't open the trunk, even through the "secret" hole in the logo in the rear of the car. It's a security feature of the car, meant that "valet" drivers can't access the trunk.
The easy way for you is to wait for the master key from the dealer, and that'll open the trunk.
If you really want to "go now," the valet key can be modified to a "master" key using a file to change the tip of the key. Lots of info on that here on the forum, if you want to "go now".

David,
Thank you. The dealer informed me today they have the key blanks cut (per vin) and will be able to program them next week. I ordered two of the non-valet keys just in case I misplace one. It is expensive but probably the best thing to do do.
