Default Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

To All,

I'm looking to do what I can to up the ponies available on my XK8 and I am wondering if anyone has done a carbon fiber driveshaft. The price in this article for a custom built unit is 1500 but it delivered lighter weight and more ponies to the ground.

The Lowdown On Carbon Fiber Driveshafts From QA1

I've got close to 100k and it seems like a good upgrade.

The best upgrade would be to sell the XK8 and buy a XKR. The prices on the '00 cars is attractive and as long as the secondary tensioners are replaced they are good cars.

Agree with RJ237, next to that, ours have an aluminium shaft, so the difference isn't that big anymore when compared to steel ones.

Lighter weight, yes. More ponies, absolutely not. Aside from weight reduction you'll get no more rear wheel horsepower with this than you get today. Spend your bucks elsewhere.

The engine of course still produces the same power, however as there is less loss due to the lower inertia, you will be a bit quicker (which measures on inertia dynos as extra power).

I fully agree that the gains are minimal in our heavy cars, you might gain more with lighter/smaller tires and carbon wheels, but the xkr would still be the cheaper next best thing to really noticeable extra power.
