CATS with a manual switch = $320 , includes power steer low mode switch
I had my mechanic run the wire (s) from the CATS control box in the trunk under the lid covering the spare tire to a switch mounted to the left of my steering wheel over the empty small vent. There was already a switch there from prior owner that switch the nav screen to a rear backup camera (alas he took the controller with him).
It is nice to have the shocks in firm mode when you know you are going to be hitting tight canyon roads. It is not enough to stop me from replacing the rear anti-roll bar with a larger unit such as the 22+ mm unit under development at JaguarSpecialities.com.
Thanks to CCFulton who explained in another post how he had the CATS shocks put into firm mode with the S button for the transmission/engine. I found I want the S mode far more than CATS in firm mode since it made the car too bouncy over city roads that often have been patched to handle 4 seasons climate.
The mechanic also installed a switch in my glovebox that keeps the steering in low power mode. The steering module is behind the glovebox with a 9-pin connector, and on 2000-2006 vehicles it is the blue wire, connector pin 4. Thanks to the others here who spelled out how to do this.
