Question CEL and P0333, P0328 Knock Sensor codes this morning

Hello guys,

This morning, I got my first Check Engine light, and the scanner pulled the following codes:

P0333 - Knock sensor circuit out of range (high voltage) - B bank
P0328 - Knock sensor circuit out of range (high voltage) - A bank

I've looked through other posts, and when ONE of these comes up, it's often a faulty sensor. But I've got both going at the same time. The Check Engine light remains lit through several restarts of the engine.

Unlike others who've posted, I'm not getting any Restricted Performance messages (yet), and the engine is behaving normally.

But since I've got BOTH knock sensors throwing codes, something must be up. NOTE: I have NOT recently washed the engine or gotten the knock sensors wet.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

Bump, with an update.

For the last two engine starts, the CEL is off.

Any thoughts on why I'd get a now INTERMITTENT code from BOTH knock sensors at the same time?

Looking for enlightenment. Thanks.

hmmmm, my quija board contacts can't give me any answers, the tarot cards came up with nada, and the car whisperer stopped taking my calls. I'm afraid, that one may just remain an unsolved mystery unless it comes back again. Did you check the JTIS for other possible causes for knock sensor codes, besides the obvious? Don't worry, if she's serious (meaning the car) about ticking you off, they'll come back.

Today, after a non-illuminated afternoon yesterday, my Check Engine Light is back on.

Thought I'd bump this thread back up...sure would like some experienced thoughts on this one. Here are the details again:

Yesterday morning, I got my first Check Engine light, and the scanner pulled the following codes:

Later that same afternoon, the CEL did NOT come on for three starts.

This morning, the CEL is back.

well, its not that many possibilities...its either a (1) bad KS, but again, I agree with you, they both wouldn't go out at once (2) poor sensor contact with block, also unlikely as both work and set a CEL in unison, and (3) short to ground on the wiring from the KS's to the ECM. Perhaps the wiring was relocated during some maintenance, and they perhaps ended up against the exhaust manifold or engine...if it were me, I'd first trace the entire length of wiring to the firewall looking for broken connector, burnt insulation...something obvious. At least in this case, there isn't many paths to explore.

I know it’s been years but any chance you know the resolution on this?
