Please post an intro in the new members section when you can.
I've moved your post from the X Type section to the XK8/R section.
You could try this........Turn the ignition ON but do not start the engine. Press and hold the ML-KM button and it will display the current language. Keep pressing that same button til the language you want is displayed. Then press the A/B switch to set the language.

I used to sneak into a car in the Jaguar shop when a 'new-guy' was working on a car and set the INST PK to Japanese and then pop the boot latch.
The display would light up unrecognizable characters and then I would ask the new guy "What did you do?" and laugh at the horror on his face and denial of tampering with the car.
The new guys would learn 'fast' about setting the language. It can also be changed with PDU, WDS, IDS etc.
