Changing the VVT Solenoid O-Rings....
2006 XK8 with the 4.2 engine, now at 90,000 miles....
What is the best approach to take when changing the VVT solenoid O-rings to ensure that the new o-rings do not leak drips of oil like our current o-rings are doing? I've read that you simply pry the old ones out with a small screwdriver and needlenose pliers, wipe up the oil residue with a rag, and push the new ones firmly into place with your fingers. Sounds a bit too simplistic and subject to leak again. What has worked best for those of you who have already done this task?

Update:
I used the simple press-in method but wanted to apply an appropriate tool to press down and seat the new O-ring firmly into place. The tip of a screwdriver would have risked cutting into the new O-ring. I settled on using the tip of a quarter-inch diameter round wooden dowel. It was the perfect size, shape, and material to allow me to press firmly all around the edge of the new O-ring without damaging it. No leaks after about 50 miles of driving but I'll keep a close watch on it just to be sure....
