Default Code P0741 and fuel at less than 3/4 full

I get the P0741 code only when my gas tank is less than 3/4 full. Fill up the tank and the code and the check engine light goes off. Comes back on when the tank is less than 3/4 full.

Any idea what is wrong?

Thanks

Are you sure it was 0741 and that was the only one ?

Strange! P0741 has nothing to do with fuel and is reporting a torque converter problem. The P1111 is an indicator that everything is OK and it is strange to have it along with a code.

Any issues with transmission or shifting?

Here is the JTIS list for P0741:

the transmission was rebuilt a couple of years ago and no issues there. When my mechanic fixed a coolant leak he said he fixed a loose sensor/check engine light. Maybe it is loose again?

Odd since TP was correct that this is a trans code(that's why I asked for confirmation), nothing to do with fuel etc, you might try letting the tank get to about 1/2 then throw #100 in the trunk and see if it goes away, adding gas is only adding wight (there are some emission issues but you're not seeing them). Might shed more light on your issue.
